Radio misuse is classified under Misuse of Equipment (CoE 6.1.8) and occurs when an individual uses the radio in an inappropriate or disruptive manner.
Examples of Inappropriate Behavior:
Spamming the radio with unnecessary or irrelevant messages.
Creating false callouts for combatants or other personnel.
Example: Falsely stating that a Class-D is in a specific area.
Engaging in argumentative conversations on the radio.
Intentionally obstructing site operations.
Example: Broadcasting the location of Mr. Times without justification.
Misusing the panic button without valid cause.
Examples of Proper Radio Usage:
Broadcasting useful or informative messages.
Example: Reporting the location of roaming Class-Ds, injured personnel, or requesting backup.
Answering simple questions posed by other personnel.
Conducting small, concise conversations.
Conversations are permitted so long as they do not obstruct site operations or interfere with other functions. If a conversation becomes too lengthy, Foundation members must transition to using the chat system.
